Sonia was born in India and raised in Singapore, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. She did her senior dissertation in Prof Praveen Linga's lab, working on storing natural gas in clathrate hydrates. As part of both the Sarazen and Koel research groups, Sonia is keen to learn more about the intersection between plasma reactors and catalysts; she hopes to subsequently pursue an academic career. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, hiking and raising awareness about feminist and LGBT+ causes.
