Michael was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He attended California State University, Chico for his undergraduate career and worked on a variety of research projects. His principle work was in the field of Chemical Education under Erik Wasinger, where he developed flipped classrooms and active learning modules for general chemistry courses in order to reduce student achievement gaps in STEM courses for underrepresented minorities, first-generation college students, low income college students, and women. Michael aspires to have an industrial career in the field of carbon utilization. In his free time, Michael enjoys cooking and going to the gym.
