BS, Iowa State University, Chemical Engineering, 2021
James was born in Des Moines, Iowa and received his B.S. in chemical engineering from Iowa State University in 2021. During his undergrad, he worked in JP Tessonnier’s lab to study bio-enhanced nylons and in Wenzhen Li’s lab to investigate electrochemical ammonia synthesis. Coadvised by both Michele Sarazen and Bruce Koel, James hopes to study plasma/catalyst interactions to better understand the mechanism of plasma catalysis. He aspires to a career at a national lab studying renewable energy technology. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, learning French, and playing video games.
